A Note From Our Co-Founder
I was only a year old when I had to learn to cohabitate with eczema. My dad tells me to this day that he thought I looked like a cute baby panda due to the irritation around my eyes. I still continue to live with it well into adulthood. It ebbs and flows depending on stress levels, sleep habits, diet, etc. Most days, even when I try to fix myself from the inside out, I need skincare that works.
Our story started about a decade ago when I was in undergrad, 2500 miles from home, and I was struggling with my eczema a lot. All the different products I tried kept failing me. Every few weeks of trying a new product resulted in terrible reactions. I went to see a dermatologist and allergist but came out of those appointments with no real help and even promises I knew they couldn't hold. (This isn't to say that medical professionals aren't trustworthy, but eczema is mysterious and hard to deal with! It's still necessary to shop around for medical professional who are right for you!) I was so stuck, I didn’t know what to do. But often times, when you don’t know what to do, your parents do. As I was cycling through various products, my dad, an ex-engineer and Eastern medicine practitioner, had secretly been researching and developing my own custom skincare at home. Monthly shipments landed on my doorstep so that I could stop worrying so much about finding skincare that worked and instead focus on school.
That’s where Dear Daughter started- in our home, from my dad’s love and care. When I was drowning in hopelessness, my dad rescued me. My hope with Dear Daughter is for everyone to feel that love in all of our products. I want people to feel cared for when they use Dear Daughter.
Dear Daughter will never be just about great skincare because our health isn't just about skincare. Health is physical, emotional, and mental. We care deeply about compassion, love, kindness, and connection. We’re here to serve as a reminder that we, as humans, are meant to work together, care for each other, and be gracious towards ourselves and those around us.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us thus far. We wouldn’t be here without you. We look forward to sharing this journey with you.
Love, Tammi
